Day 7

Home, it was a close run thing though. This morning they were querying his blood results, the inflammatory markers were up and he had been experiencing increased pain, eventually though they decided to okay his discharge and so they arrived at our house for 7.30pm. Son still has the staples in his wound, and he was given no clues as to when. how, where they should be removed, my lips will remain firmly sealed, I’m just happy to have him home.

Today we have a visitor in our back garden, a munjack deer and her teeny, tiny baby, all is not well though. Baby bambi cannot stand up, Mummy keeps licking and nudging it but, although it tries it just can’t support it’s own weight. Worried, I phoned the RSPCA for help, they promised to get back to me, which they did whilst I was seeing an antenatal patient, they wanted me to stay with the deer, I explained that I was working, they seemed rather put out. An hour later I received a call from St Tiggywinkles who had been alerted by the RSPCA, they wanted to know if we have a dog? I answered in the negative but told them about the red kites which visit everyday and the fox which calls round every night, they said that the Mother would defend her babe and that they would reassess tomorrow. The Mum has been popping back all evening, her bambi is still lying under our apple tree though, I fear that a cold night will not help this tiny creature and I will not be the one checking on her welfare in the morning. Son and Hubby keep telling DIL and me that ‘this is nature’, it may well be, but I don’t want nature happening in my back garden. Us sentimental females were plotting a rescue involving an old blanket, a cardboard box and the utility room, we were sussed though and had to abandon our ‘misplaced’ philanthropy.

Thanking everyone, again, for their kind thoughts and hoping for more positive news shortly.
