Here in USA you have to change driving license every time you move State, every 10 years and when you have a change of age (eg reach 21). It is a question they ask as if you are a donor there is an extra symbol on the license…and your application fee is also a little cheaper – by something like 4 pounds- but it is easy to sign up here. I think some people have such a hard time with becoming donors as they don’t like the idea of their body being meddled with after their death..they don’t distinguish between body and soul perhaps? I always say, would you let your dead body have a bit painlessly (of course, you are probably brain dead at least) to help an innocent child – your own child, or grandchild etc. Help them live a little longer.
mumof4 – That is a really sensible system, do the number of donors reflect it I wonder. I have no problem with people making use of ‘parts’ I would no longer have any use for. When I was still ‘young’ I did stipulate that they could not use my ovaries/eggs after my death, I felt that if I was to reproduce I should be in existance and cogniscent of who would be caring for ‘my’ child.
