Wasn't this settled out of court without the doctor admitting liability. Presumably it was cheaper this way than defending it in court.

On the face of it, it's bizarre that anyone would think there was a case to answer despite the tragic circumstances.

hope you are feeling better, I have sprinkled fairy dust over your blog...

how much more of a problem are these morbidly obese girls to help when they get pregnant, do they have difficulties giving birth? I watched some waddling up to school today and wondered if a boy friend would ever be able to get them pregnant or did they have to get out the turkey baster!!!!!!

I read this on the Daily Mail site and I couldn't believe it. In fact, I left a comment to the effect of: Shame on you!
This woman claimed that she wasn't doing it for the money, but instead, she wanted to make sure that this never happened to any one else. I say "pull the other one!".
Like you, I'm hoping that there are things left out of the story because it seems absurd that the judge awarded her the win.

I saw that article and I found it disturbing for all the reasons that you outline.
The increasing lack of responsibility that people are prepared to take for themselves and the eagerness to sue for almost any reason makes me wonder where we're going with life at present.
Thanks for a good, thought provoking, entry.
Take care and have a good week.
